Proof Load Testing
A proof test is a form of stress test to demonstrate the fitness of a load bearing structure. Proof load testing is normally a non-destructive test. It is essential to ensure that an item of lifting equipment can perform to the required standard in accordance with the manufacturers guidance.
Proof load test is required in many situations, including but not limited to:

Before the item is brought into service

After a complete overhaul of equipment

Following any Incident or undesired event
